I did have to deal with another annoyance - the the public who ride public transportation.

On the way in the ride was uneventful and dare I say pleasant. On the way home...I was surrounded by bizarre, bizarre people. Waiting to board at the Library on one side of me was this woman speaking loudly about all the women in what I am assuming were her rehab center...it was about 5 minutes of a live Jerry Springer show. On my left, a man talking to a stranger about how you can't get a job in this country if you don't speak Spanish and that's why he was fired from his last job and the U.S. should take over Mexico instead of Iraq. Then I sat down on a crowded train across from this weird couple holding hands and sort of flirting in an odd way and talking loudly about how they should get together again soon and about their childhood puppies and kittens and family- all of the sudden the woman says, this is my stop and the guy awkwardly kissed her goodbye - it was so weird! Then, a few stops later a Latina woman got on with 5 young children. She sat next to me but the train was crowded and the little ones have to sit on the floor. I was appalled at the guy sitting across from us and another man just on the other side -purposely taking up 2 seats and never moving to allow the children to sit on chairs. My ride home was absolutely annoying and basically disgusted me regarding humanity. Yet, an important reality check about people and the public. I will likely subject myself to this all over again tomorrow and much more in the future. I think the city looks so much better from a distance than up close and personal. My ride home felt like I was in High Definition city life - not necessarily such a good thing.

Lisa, I am ashamed to admit it, but I am a little leary of public transportation in my own state. In other cities (DC, San Francisco, Paris, London, Zurich etc.) I am completely comfortable and confident...it's what everyone does and I don't want to look like a tourist. Here, and I'm sorry to stereotype, but it seems to be the wierdos that take the bus. (If Jared reads this I'm sorry). I've only ridden trax once ever and it was fun, but I'm afraid, I'm afraid.
Good thing I don't ever leave my house anymore. That is how Elliott and I are helping to fight pollution...we don't go anywhere. We use lots of diapers that plug up landfills for 500 years before they finally biodegrade, but we don't drive.
I think you are great though...Keep on, keepin' on.
I may be a weirdo, but at least I give up my seat to women with kids. I can't stand the people who sit on the outside seat and put their bag on the inside. Awful!!!
