A Day in the Life...

My friend, co-worker and model blogger, Annie, posted a while ago about the day in the life of a work from home new mom. Inspired, I give you a day in the life of a working (single -because Sia is out of town) mom.

6:00 AM - wake -up, shower, get ready and listen to Arian thrash around and talk in his sleep in our bed.

6:20 AM - check email play with blog

6:45 AM- downstairs, take out stinky towel and swimsuit from Setareh's bag, find a clean towel to stick back in the bag, find clean swim suit, wake up Sayeh, make 3 lunches: PB&J sandwiches, cheese, juice for Setareh, milk for Arian, chips, pudding only for Sayeh and extra food for dinner, fruit cups (make sure there are spoons) fruit roll, granola bar and anything else I can find that I think might be consumed by hot sweaty little people.

7:05 AM -Sayeh hasn't finished online class wants advice on what to do....um....stop making 3rd lunch and stress that Sayeh will not get in touch with JCC supervisor to cancel work today.

7:10 -AM -water plants on deck - if any plant goes thirsty could mean a divorce when Sia returns.

7:25 - AM- nuke leftover coffee - way too lazy to go through pains of making coffee

7:30- AM-wake up little ones upstairs, fight Arian to put on clothes, fight Setareh to get out of the bed, brush Arian's teeth, supervise Setareh's brushing and do her hair.

8:00 -AM downstairs, forgot socks for Arian back upstairs

8:03-AM searching for Arian's shoes, fill Setareh's water bottle, make lunch for me from leftovers 4 days ago, fill sippy with water for Arian.

8:10 - AM take all bags to car, chase kids out the door, still looking for Arian's shoes

8:11-AM- oh! better take out trash neighbors have their trash out

8:13- AM - still can't find Spiderman shoes, grab alternative sturdy foot wear for boy

8:17-AM - out of the driveway and on our way North

8:45 -AM- arrive JCC: kiss Setareh good-bye she walks herself to her camp group, walk painstakingly slowly with Arian, whining, "I howd you mommy" all the way down to his camp room. Nobody is crying (a 1st) in the room until we walk in and Arian is on the verge of losing it, I quickly kiss him hand him to a teacher and run out the door

9:05 -AM- arrive at work- take a deep breath and get to work -work.

4:00- PM double check a deadline - Ah! deadline is at 5PM and have to get to another building and fight traffic to be at parent's house by 4:25 to make it home by 4:55 to get Sayeh to Shopko for 5PM work.

4:07 -PM leave work run into UEN courier in the hall, Yeah! will still make it in time to get to Sandy by 4:55

4:25- PM quick kid pick-up at the curb at my parents' house and head out South.

4:50 - PM pick-up Sayeh

4:55-PM drop off Sayeh

5:00-PM walk with kids to lemonade stand down the street

5:20- PM return home, read some mail, think about dinner -too hot to think about dinner - Damn it was Wednesday not Thursday oops trash out on wrong day

5:25-PM herd kids to backyard to water plants again - thank goodness everything still looks alive

5:35 -PM boil some frozen Costco, "Grilled Chicken and Mozzarella Ravioli"

5:38- PM practice Setareh's piano -difficult and painful without a piano

6:00-PM eat the easy cook dinner with Setareh (highly recommend the dish it was fabulous and kids loved it), Arian still watering plants, deck and hot tub in back

6:20-PM painfully review more piano with Setareh, change soaking wet and stinky boy

6:55-PM walk Setareh to her piano lesson

7:05-PM return home, feed Arian and make 3 lunches for tomorrow

7:25-PM walk to pick up Setareh

7:40-PM return home, convince kids they want a bath

8:00-PM kids in bath and procrastinate work and play on blog

8:45-PM kids gave mommy a treat and played for 45 minutes in the bath

8:47-PM Setareh reads some books to Arian

8:55-PM mommy is bad guy and makes Arian go to bed

9:15 -PM mommy is bad guy again and makes Setareh go to bed

9:25-PM make soccer team phone calls for fall season registration, fold some laundry, call Al to see how their S. Lake Tahoe home is holding out in fire and how Christine is doing - baby due today

10:05-PM walk next door to ask someone to stay at the house, go to pick up Sayeh

10:20 -PM return home work on laptop, Sayeh finishes online class on other computer

12:00- AM hurry to bed

2:07 -AM - Arian up and crying, bring him to bed with me

Start all over in 4 more hours...

You've got me beat! I'm tired just reading this post and it's only 8 am. I think you are a super mom. A super mom with no sleep.

Keep up the good work.
