June 6, 2007 Setareh Finishes 1st Grade

Today was Setareh's last day of first grade. Mommy was sad to see the year end but proud of this big girl. Setareh has grown so much this year - my photography doesn't really show all that this little ladybug has learned. Setareh was not reading as she entered 1st grade. She had a great concept of phonics but the click didn't occur until late fall and now...Setareh is a fantastic reader, speller and claims to enjoy math. She is among the youngest 1st graders in the state. While she was challenged, she was clearly meant to be in 1st grade this year. Mrs. Gonzalez has been a fabulous teacher, Quail Hollow a lovely school and Setareh has benefited from such great influences. Setareh has the concepts of 1st grade math skills and can read and/or spell just about anything- gone are the days of spelling out words for grown up info. In first grade, Setareh lost her 2 bottom front teeth, one on top and she still has one dangling. Setareh walked to school with the neighborhood kids and has become quite confident and independent. I am thrilled Setareh has such a wonderful year.
