Easter Bunny, St. Valentine, Jack O'Lantern and St. Nick

We live in so many worlds. Raising children is a challenge no doubt, but raising culturally enriched diverse children in Sandy,Utah is also a challenge. Obvious to this blog there are constant celebrations in our family between something Persian or Jewish we seem to always be looking forward to another event. Then we step outside our little family and recognize we are obligated to celebrate some more. We really enjoyed the neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 7, 2007. I felt unprepared and did not have much background for the experience - I have vivid memories of begging my parents to take us to the Easter Egg Hunt at Liberty Park and never getting to attend. I am sure my parents had the some similar issues about the event and some similar laziness as well. Our neighbors were very welcoming and I will pay more attention for next year and be more prepared. I do think Setareh understands that the Easter Bunny, St. Valentine, St. Patrick, Jack Lantern and Santa all hold equal weight in our home. Yet, Easter Sunday, Setareh woke me up and demanded an "explanation" why the Easter Bunny did not come to our house. She put out carrots and milk but between Siamak and myself some communication failed and the EB did not make a showing. Sahar called and offered to call the EB and tell him he missed a house. Finally, mommy decided to help the very busy Easter bunny out and hide some eggs around the yard which seemed to satisfy Setareh this year.
