The lip sync's performed by the campers at the JCC today were adorable - I don't know why my camera can't deal with motion - so the pictures don't really capture how cute the kids were. Setareh's group did theirs to My Boyfriend's Back and Sayeh's little guys performed, Another One Bites the Dust. It was fun to watch this new generation and reminisce about my own camp days.
I have a vivid memory of the fantastic summer I had when I was a Jr. Counselor and Diana Leo was the Sr. Counselor in 1984 at the 17th S. JCC. Times were very different. If a van was available, the Sr. Counselor checked it out and you were off. We used to take all of our kids to the Leo's to watch Madonna on MTV and then we had our little 6 year old girls lip sync to Lucky Star. Remember MTV? Remember when liability wasn't at the forefront of every activity? As a parent, now, I would be completely flipped out by so much of what was so normal back then. That was absolutely one of the greatest summers at the JCC. They were all pretty fun but Diana was a great role model, I think I still have the pictures somewhere from a collage she made for me from that summer.
Vickey Arnold thinks I know everyone...how funny to find out a decade later (1993) that Diana Leo is Siamak's best friend (Steve's) sister. When I was 14, Siamak and I probably crossed paths at some point at the home of the Leo's.
