L'Shana Tovah

Happy New Year! Again the Khadjenoury's are celebrating. Rosh Hoshana 5759(? - I think) was full of celebration and memories. This year was a bit different for congregation Kol Ami...neighbors gathered following services and services were vibrant, welcoming and very crowded.
The synagogue was brimming with people who felt a part of something, who were inspired as well as reverent. It was new feeling for Kol Ami...the experiment worked well. The neighborhood party was also very nice. When I think of Rosh Hoshana luncheon I have vivid memories of running around at Aunt Clara's from noon til dusk with all my cousins. Sierra Vista Rosh Hoshanna's were quaint and community oriented - very much the feeling of today. I am happy to be back in SLC so Setareh will know those memories and we will have to make some new traditions that will leave my kids with the same connection and identity. I am sort of in a blog funk and didn't take any pictures today. Setareh and Arian looked adorable. I think Rafi did his usual children's service spectacular - I hope he stays well and I am proud of his work at the religious school. Several things stand out about today...When I asked Arian about Rosh Hoshana he said,"Apples" and he was fascinated by the Shofar, he loved listening to it...his cousin Josh Lipman has become quite the Shofar blower and when I stopped Josh in the hall and asked if Arian could see the 3 ft. Shofar he was carrying, Josh let Arian touch it and turned it over to show him the it was soft on one side- it was so so sweet. Just like the Apples and Honey we eat to celebrate a sweet new year! L'Shana Tovah.
