Me: How was school today (day 2)?
Setareh: It was so unfair (beginning to cry)!
Me: Why, what happened?
Setareh: The teacher gave us jobs and I am the table captain and really really wanted to be the desk fairy (more sobbing).
Happy I was on the phone to keep my smile to myself, I engaged all of my parenting skills an
consoled my poor table captain and tried to encourage her future opportunity as a desk fairy.
Back to school night was historic as much of Setareh's life when we witnessed history on August 28,2008 as Barak Obama accepted the Democrtatic nomination for President of the United States. When Setareh was born we had no President, when Setareh was a toddler -911, and as a 3rd grader history made again with Barak Obama. It is scary to have children in public school today and living in today's corrupt and ugly political society but I am truly filled with hope by the possibilities for Setareh's future with
this election and the possibility of Barak Obama as President. Miss Crocker is young, energetic, focused and in one week of 3rd grade has already been challenging and inspiring. I am impressed by these qualities that make an excellent teacher and world leader! I am really looking forward to this year for Setareh and for history!
